Who am I?

I could be considered a retail, private and/or certified sophisticated investor1. Private equity forms a modest portion of my portfolio but has certainly proved the most fascinating. Equity crowdfunding has been key to my access to this asset class.

What are you blogging about?

For the most part, private equity with an equity crowdfunding focus.  Equity crowdfunding is democratising an asset class with historically high barriers to entry, and that truly excites me. It is certainly still in its nascent stages, but I have the utmost optimism for the industry going forward. For the most part, I will enjoy posting about the goings on within equity crowdfunding. Beyond that, you can expect UK-centric posts on startups/scale ups, venture capital, the crowdfunding sector, or similar.Of course, I also hope to cover the unending tragedy and romance in the sector.

Why?

In my experience, the everyday retail investor is dangerously unaware of the (very high) risks associated with equity crowdfunding. There is a wealth of stellar bloggers, enthusiasts and journalists working in this niche, but none that seek to prime investors for the risks they are taking, in my view. Therefore, I decided to create a blog to raise awareness in this space.

Moreover, the startup scene in the UK is incredibly vibrant. Indeed, British private companies attracted £7Bn in investments 2, comfortably taking the top spot in Europe. The innovation that continues to occur is truly astonishing. More astonishing is the lack of coverage, criticism and/or acclaim the platforms, entrepreneurs and startups/scale ups seem to receive!  I hope to put this right.

Thank you.
